September 9, 2023

No trip to Sturbridge is complete without a tour of the region’s thriving craft beverage scene. Whether you love beer, wine, cocktails, or just the good vibes that come from a local winery or brewery, keep reading to learn how you can sip your way through Sturbridge during your next visit.

Local Brews

Each brewery in Sturbridge and beyond has amazing beers and its own unique atmosphere. You can’t miss out on Altruist Brewing, located right on Main Street in Sturbridge Marketplace. This beautifully renovated historic mill-turned-brewery brews its IPAs and ales in small batches, ensuring every drop is better than the last. Listen to live music in the taproom or relax on the Beer Garden Patio with your four-legged friends.

Located nearby in Brookfield, Timberyard Brewing’s mission is to make the best beer in the world. They also make sure to give their customers a fun time with live music, trivia nights and other fun events.

Don’t leave Brookfield without also stopping at Oakholm Brewing Company. The 10-barrel brewhouse serves a variety of delicious beers and the unique taproom is in a renovated barn that was constructed in the early 1900s.

Distilled to Perfection

One of Sturbridge’s newest additions, Deep Roots Distillery makes mash-to-bottle sprits that use local honey, maple sugar and other locally grown items. The tasting room offers a rotating menu of signature cocktails, yummy bites to eat and a family-friendly menu with non-alcoholic options as well.

Vinos and Views

Sturbridge is surrounded by some amazing local wineries. Head over to Hardwick for a visit to Hardwick Vineyard and Winery. This family-owned vineyard is full of history and has amazing vineyards, gardens and mountain vista views. Try their hand-crafted wines, slushies and flights.

In Brimfield, you’ll find another family-owned winery. Brimfield Winery has award-winning wine, beer and cider for you to enjoy in their tasting room or outdoor pavilion. Be sure to check out their robust calendar of musical entertainment.

Echo Hill Orchards & Winery in Monson makes their own wine, moonshine, spirits and liquors out of fruits they grow right on the farm. When you visit you can pick your own apples, peaches, pears, pumpkins and sunflowers or try their homemade products with a wine or distillery tasting.
