Sturbridge Celebrates America 250: Family Fun Day
About
Join the Sturbridge America250 Celebration Committee for Family Fun Day, the first of two community-wide events commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
The afternoon begins with a Patriotic Costume Parade. Check-in starts at 12 p.m., and participants will receive a parade number and patriotic goodie bag. The parade begins at 12:15 p.m., with prizes awarded for Most Historical, Most Patriotic, and Best Family/Group Theme.
From 1-2 p.m., enjoy a performance by the Mighty Top Big Circus, featuring aerial silks, hula-hoop acrobatics, and aerial hoop acts. After the show, kids can try hula hoop tricks and other circus skills.
Families can also enjoy potato sack races, a three-legged race, yard games, a selfie station, face painting, a balloon artist, an inflatable double slide, crafts with Girl Scout Troop #65394, and patriotic hat-making with the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A DJ will emcee and provide music throughout the afternoon. Free hot dogs, chips, and water will be available for the first 250 attendees, with additional food available for purchase from food trucks.
This event is supported by community partners including Joshua Hyde Public Library, Sturbridge Cultural Council, Mass Cultural Council, Veolia, Stephanie Lachapelle Group with Compass, Girl Scout Troop #65394, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A second America250 event will take place on June 27, featuring a parade followed by activities on the Common.
