A Q&A With Tutti Quanti Foods

October 30, 2024

Tutti Quanti Foods has quickly become a beloved destination for those seeking authentic Italian flavors and a warm, welcoming atmosphere in Sturbridge. In our Q&A with owner Laurie Placella, we explore the story behind Tutti Quanti, the delightful offerings that both visitors and locals love, and the passion for Italian heritage that drives this family-oriented business.

Q: How long has Tutti Quanti been in business? What is the story behind the company?

A: Tutti Quanti opened on July 9, 2022. After retirement, we wanted to do something that embraced our love of food, wine, travel and Italian heritage. We wanted to bring a taste of Boston’s North End and Providence’s Federal Hill to Central Massachusetts. Our trips to Italy also allowed us to form relationships with businesses wanting to import their products to our store.

Q: What can visitors expect when they visit Tutti Quanti Foods?

A: Visitors can expect to find a unique and quality food experience with the best Italian wine, cheese, pasta, pastry, olive oils and vinegar in a family-oriented, friendly atmosphere. We take pride in meeting every customer that comes into the store and addressing their needs.

Q: What are some of the most popular items at the store?

A: Our most popular items are our imported meats and cheeses, our Italian wine selection and our famous “Tutti Italian” grinders – only available on Thursdays. Our imported pasta and Venda ravioli are a big hit with families looking for high-quality, clean ingredients.

Q: What is your mission?

A: Our mission is to bring the highest quality imported Italian products, and personal service to Central Massachusetts. We have amazing oils, vinegar, cheese, olives, cured meats, pasta, desserts, wine and so much more.

Q: Is there anything exciting coming up in the future?

A: We are always looking to bring in new, distinctive products to share with our customers. Our monthly newsletter highlights upcoming events like our monthly Wine Tastings and Pasta Making Classes.

Q: Where does the name “Tutti Quanti” come from?

A: We named our store as a way to honor Mike’s dad or “Poppy” as we all called him. Poppy would always start our Sunday family meals with a toast and at the end, we would all clink our glasses with “Tutti Quanti”– which means “to everyone!”
