We spoke with Matt Zarif, the owner, about the story behind Timberyard Brewing Co., what visitors can expect when they stop by, their most popular offerings, and what exciting plans are on tap for the future.
Q: How long has Timberyard Brewing Co. been in business? What is the story behind the brewery?
A: Timberyard opened its doors in 2018 in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. Our home is a renovated historic lumberyard with high open ceilings and lots of steel and reclaimed wood. Our taproom is set up in the style of a European beer garden with long benches and communal seating, live music, and the energy of a true family-friendly community space. Our iconic stage is a 1951 Chevy pickup truck, where local musicians play every weekend. We’ve always aimed to preserve the character of the old building while building something new: great beer and a place that feels like home for locals and travelers alike.
Q: What can visitors expect when they visit Timberyard Brewing Co.?
A: Expect more than just a brewery. Guests can enjoy a full kitchen menu with authentic slow-smoked BBQ and an ever-changing lineup of beers, and craft cocktails. We also host live music, trivia nights, and seasonal events like Oktoberfest and pig roasts. Families, dogs, and big groups are welcome, and there are a variety of spaces for private events, from birthday parties to large weddings. Oh, and there is our brewery dog/ local legend, Nugget, a three-legged poodle rescued by Second Chance Animal Shelter right here in town. Nugget is beloved by customers and staff and has helped with lots of fundraising efforts for the shelter!
Q: What are some of the most popular offerings?
A: Our most popular beers range from hazy IPAs and crisp lagers to specialty beers like our Blueberry Honey Ale, made with loads of real blueberries and other local ingredients. In the kitchen, our authentic slow-smoked BBQ, scratch-made sides, and flatbread pizzas are big crowd-pleasers.
Q: What is your mission?
A: Our mission is to create the most wonderful and welcoming experience for our guests that we can! We believe in being a community hub where great food, live music, and local events connect people as much as our beer does. We are focused on giving back to the community by hosting fundraisers for meaningful causes, as well as making Timberyard a great place to work. We love our team here, who make this place what it is!
Q: Is there anything exciting coming up in the future?
A: Absolutely. We’re continuing to expand our private event spaces with the Wood Barn and River Barn, making Timberyard a destination for weddings and celebrations. We’re always adding new beers to our lineup, planning special events like our Holiday Market and a very popular annual visit from Santa. We’ll be hosting more live music and special food events, as every season brings something new here.
