In 2023, Sturbridge was thrilled to welcome its very first axe-throwing spot. Opened by Deep Roots Distillery USA, Into the Grain Axe Throwing is a great place for some friendly competition and to experience something brand new.
We spoke with Errica Devarenne, owner of Into the Grain Axe Throwing to learn more about this exciting new business.
Q: How long has Into the Grain been in business? What is the story behind the business?
A: Into the Grain is a themed axe throwing room owned by Deep Roots Distillery USA that opened Memorial Day weekend in 2023. We wanted to open this room to fill a void in the town as a place for people to come and have fun for a family night, date night, join a league or make friends.
Q: What can visitors expect when they visit Into the Grain?
A: When our patrons come to Into the Grain they will walk into a friendly welcoming environment. We even offer a kids’ option! Our coaches make sure to give instructions that allow each group to enjoy their time in a safe and fun way. We also offer food and beverages and have plans for more things coming soon.
Q: Is there anything exciting coming up in the future?
A: Into the Grain has league nights on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and we plan on doing team-based tournaments with “easier” scoring to let people who aren’t sure about the competition side of axe throwing see that it isn’t as intimidating as they may have thought.
Q: What does being a part of the Sturbridge community mean to you?
A: Into the Grain and Deep Roots Distillery USA are both proud to be located in Sturbridge. We are thrilled to give people in the area the opportunity to go out, have fun and try something new and unique that most haven’t done before. We’ve had a lot of people tell us that they’re thrilled that there’s finally something to do after they go have dinner with friends at one of the great restaurants that are nearby. We are focused on supporting local and everything we offer is USA-made, even our targets are locally sourced.
