This event aims to raise funds for the Silent Spring Institute\, the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition\, and The Cancer Center at Harrington Hospital to combat breast cancer\, support cancer research and help local cancer patients with financial hardship. \nThe Festival of {Giving} Trees\, which showcases over 100 beautifully decorated trees\, takes place every December and has donated over $800\,000 to these causes over the past twenty-five years. \nRace Day Schedule & Location\n– Registration on Race Day: Will begin at 7:00 AM with a 3.1-mile race starting at 8:00 AM\n– GPS address: Sturbridge Town Common- 278 Main St\, Sturbridge\, MA 01566\n– Race T-shirts and finisher medals are guaranteed to all participants registered by July 1st\, 2023.\n– Parking is available at several parking lots within a short walk of the Sturbridge Town Common\n– Awards to: Overall Female & Male Winners\, 1st Sturbridge/Fiskdale Resident & Age group Awards\n– For our virtual Tree.1 there is no specific location\, just run\, walk\, jog or treadmill from wherever you are!! Do it between June 15th and July 15th!  It’s your 5k – do it at your pace. DESCRIPTION:From 1959 to 1968\, NASA operated three North American Aviation rocket planes to great effect. In 199 flights they generated over 700 technical papers on aerodynamics and set altitude and speed records for winged vehicles not exceeded until the space shuttle many years later. In 1993\, our presenter\, David Ball\, organized a search in the Mojave Desert for parts from X-15 #3 which came apart in flight in 1967. Join us on ZOOM as he shares what made the X-15 the greatest research plane ever built and his theory on why one was lost. Led by David S. Ball\, a volunteer educator with NASA. As a Solar System Ambassador with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory\, he presents topics related to American activities in space. \nSponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Library.
